What is the JUA?
The JUA provides professional liability coverage to health-care providers who cannot conveniently obtain medical professional liability insurance in the private market. The JUA issues policies on an occurrence or claims-made basis depending on the situation and the type of existing coverage in place.
The Mcare Fund uses the JUA's premiums to determine the assessment for its excess coverage.
